Does anyone still come here? If not I can eliminate it. Just wanted you all to know if you are looking that the church has a new youth minister. We have hired Paul Fletcher and he will be on board around Sept 1. Isn't that tremendous news?
Everyone make sure to welcome Paul and his family with wide open arms, and lets get to work for the Lord in this area.

Bible Trivia 2

Alrighty church....ready for round 2? Hope to see some newcomers on this round of Bible Trivia, but be forewarned.....you are going to have some stiff competition! Anyone up for stripping Sally of her title? Same rules as before with two additions....

1. All ages are welcome.

2. Only the first person to post the correct answer to the question will be credited with the score. If 5 people answer the question correctly, only the first post will count. This is just another motivation to check the forum regularly!

3. Moderators may not participate in the games (sorry Rick!)

4. If no one has answered the question correctly before the next question is posted the first person to post a response will get the score.

5. All posts are final and may not be deleted or edited. If you delete a post in this thread, you will be disqualified from earning a point on the question which you deleted or edited your answer. Make sure you are posting the answer you want before you click Post! (Rick, you will have to help me keep them honest!)

6. Should anyone find the need to contest the answers to any of the questions, I reserve the right to determine the validity of the question/answer and the recipient of the point for that question. You can complain and I will listen but, utltimately, my decision is final!

7. There will be no questions specific to any particular translation of the Bible unless so specified in the question.

8. In the event of a tie on the final question, a run-off round of questions will be posted until a winner emerges. Only those individuals with tied scores will be allowed to participate in the run-off round.

9. Only registered users of this forum may participate...no logging in as guests!

Bible Trivia

In an effort to promote interest in this forum, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is...so to speak. Here's the deal: This post will launch the first installment of a good ole round of internet Bible Trivia. Over the next several months, I will be posting a series of questions regarding little known Bible facts. There will be a total of 20 questions in the first round and I reserve the right to choose when those questions are posted. There might be one question a week, there might be three. The point is, you won't know when the question is posted unless you check this forum on a regular basis. At the conclusion of the 20 question round, I will present the winner with a prize whose value will far exceed any amount of time you might have spent trying to win. You have nothing to lose by participating and everything to win. And, since I am ponying up the cash, I get to set the rules:

Still working up to all of this

It's been a busy year, and showing no signs of slowing. So, I imagine that means things are going well. I'm still getting used to the different blogs and things on here, so I ask that you bear with me.

A lot of things coming up in the near future.

1. Kick off to Learning to Lead. This is our alternative to LTC. It is open to grades 3rd-12th.

2. We will be announcing plans for our trip to Mexico this next summer.

3. Youth Retreat at Robber's Cave - November 13-15

Important Teacher's Meeting

Most all responses are in and it appears that Sunday, October 25th is going to be the best day to accomodate the most number of teachers.

With that, there will be a very important teacher's meeting at 3pm on Sunday afternoon, October 25th, 2009. I would say that it is "mandatory" for all permanent teachers but, since it is a volunteer position, "mandatory" might be a bit offensive. Sooooooo......I'll just say that this is going to be a very necessary and important meeting and all of our Sunday morning teachers really need to attend if at all possible. I will be giving out some important information, changes, and we will be "round tabling" ideas for our new classrooms.

Mark the date and don't be late!

Praise and Harmony Workshop Rogers Ar

There will be a Praise and Harmony Workshop this Saturday Oct. 3rd in Rogers Arkansas at the Southside Church of Christ starting at 6 p.m. It will be great fun
if anyone wants to go (grab some friends and just do it). Let me know if you are going there are some of us going early to check out the mall before the workshop and eat some really yummy food!

Songs for the Web Site

The last song that was on the website was there for a long time for a couple of reasons, 1 because I love the song - it was one of those that knocked my socks off, and 2 because so many people told me and sent me emails that said never take that song off there.
But everything gets old after awhile, and so it was changed. Now how long should I keep a song on the web, I will post a poll but I need some replies. If only one or two folks read this and vote then nothing will happen, it will be changed whenever the web design team gets around to doing it. Also would love to take suggestions for songs....... please vote. please.

Hooooray!

Praise God! We have finally fully staffed all Sunday morning Bible classes with at least (2) dedicated, full-time teachers. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we should no longer be calling for volunteers to teach Sunday morning classes. At this time, Wednesday night Bible study is still being taught by volunteers on a quarterly basis. Wednesday nights will remain on this type of rotation to provide a ministry for those who enjoy teaching but do not want to commit for more than a quarter at a time. Wednesday's will also serve as a "training ground" for those interested in becoming teachers. All Wednesday night classes will be under the direct guidance and control of the two full-time teachers for that age-group. (For example: Becky Baker and Amy Garrett are the full-time teachers for the PreK-K class. The Wednesday night volunteer for that age-group will report to Becky and Amy for class materials/guidance/room keys/decor changes/etc.) It will also be the responsibility of the full-time teachers to ensure that there is a qualified teacher found each quarter for their class on Wednesday night.

As soon as room assignments are made with the completion of the new building, each of the full-time teachers will be given a name placard for their room as well as a key.

Any vacancies that should occur in the full-time teaching staff will be filled first from interested Wednesday night teachers.

Lord willing, our pleas from the pulpit for teachers will diminish to only the rarest of circumstances.

To all of you who have answered the call and stepped up to invest in our most valuable asset (our children) by accepting a role as teacher, my heartfelt and sincere thanks goes out to you. May God bless you!

COFC WEEKEND SILVER DOLLAR CITY

Anyone interested in going to Branson for Church of Christ weekend at Silver Dollar City? (Second weekend in Oct. the 10th and 11th.) If you have never gone you need to go if you can. The tickets are a 2 day special price (Adult $41.92 / Child $31.17 prices includes tax) and the special events are acappella groups from different parts of the US sing during the day and Sunday worship service held outdoors at Silver Dollar City. 9th St. Singing

Hey guys! I got brave and I'm going to tell you about something. Tomorrow One Voice + 2 will be singing at the 9th St. Church of Christ in Ft. Smith along with a couple of other groups. We love to sing at 9th St.; because they are the best and this time we will have 2 surprise singers to introduce! Danny Baker and Robert Martin will be singing with us and we are very excited. If anyone would like to come and listen it starts at 2:00 pm and lasts about an hour. Please think about us tomorrow about that time and say a little prayer that we may glorify God with our voices and help others to be closer to him.

Passion Play

We still have 12 tickets to the Passion Play left. The tickets were given to us and they normally cost 22 dollars apiece. Our plan is to take a Church Van and leave the Church around 12 or 1 pm on Friday the 28th, watch the passion play Friday night - it starts at 830pm. Then on Saturday take the holy lands tour, that starts at noon, if you have never been it is wonderful, you learn a lot about a lot of things but the tabernacle that we have been studying in Hebrews (if you are not in that class all of the classes are on our website and you can listen to them, its a great class) and so it will be very interesting. All you need will be to pay for your own hotel room and your food, and I think its 13 dollars apiece for the holy lands tour. If interested please contact rick parker asap so that the motel reservation can be made.

C.O.P.S. Ministry

Everyone mark your calendar's for Sunday, August 30th and all you good cooks out there put your best foot forward. We will be inviting all of the law enforcement personnel in our community (and Fort Smith) to our Sunday morning worship that day. We will then have a potluck meal (cops bring a healthy appetite so don't be shy with the vittles!) for lunch and, following the lunch, a special speaker. Officer Randy Myers of the Oak Ridge, TN Police Department will be talking to us about his C.O.P.S. Ministry, a national prayer network for public safety officials. In a time of rising social unrest and tension, our boys and girls in blue need the assurance of salvation in Christ Jesus and they need our prayers...perhaps more now than ever.

Please pray for this event, particularly that many of our local public servants will see the need for Christ in their lives (we will all reap the benefits in the long run), that a soul might be saved, and that our congregation may develop and foster healthy relationships with those who serve this community. Let us prove that the only true rehabilitation takes place in Christ. Pray for a successful event.

I want to welcome Gatha as our newest member, but a warm welcome to all who have registered. It's OK in fact desirable for you to post on this board. I hope everyone has registered for the prayer board and the database. I am sorry for the number of registrations but because of the way people can be on the internet we need to take precautions. Please if you haven't done so register for the prayer board, you will automatically get an email anytime someone requests prayers, and the object is two fold, number 1 is that those who need prayers get them and secondly it keeps all of us who are participating in a prayerful attitude. Please pray for me, the most heartfelt thing I heard lately was when one of our members came to me and told me what he was praying would happen in my life. That really touched me. God Bless all of you, get to posting and to praying!

Don't know if anyones looking here anymore, but just wanted to say that we are soliciting for everyone in the Church family to provide full and accurate information for our data-base. Love to celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries of all our members young and old, love to be able to call someone and with assurance know that the number is correct and now to be able to email them is a great help to all. Please sign the sheet with password information so you can get on the database and take advantage of all of the things that are there for you. Any of the deacons would be happy to train if needed.
